How to create your own AboutUs.org page |
 |
 |
AboutUs.org is a wiki built with the same software as Wikipedia, but instead of being an Encyclopedia of everything it's focusing on domain names. If you would like to know more about a company behind a domain name AboutUs.org is the place where you should have a look since almost every domain name registered got its own page in the form of Aboutus.org/sampleaddress.com (where sampleaddress.com is the domain you would like to look up). If a page doesn't exist for the domain name you're looking for the AboutUs.org bot will create one in a few seconds :)
Since AboutUs.org is built using MediaWiki (same as most Wiki's in the world) all users can help build the database, but you need to know the correct syntax to use since HTML wont work. AboutUs.org already got a good guide helping you to get started, but I will anyway mention a few of the basic codes.
Bold text:
'''Bold text:'''
Italic text:
''Italic text:''
Force a line break with <br>:
first line <br> second line
Make text small:
<small>text</small>
Enlarge text:
<big>Enlarged text</big>
Make text striked over:
<strike>text</strike>
Link to an external page outside AboutUs.org:
[http://sampleaddress.com Sample Address]
Link to an internal page at AboutUs.org:
[[SampleAddress.com Sample Address]]
You can also create tables and add images too, but that's another lesson :D
Now it's time for you to visit your own domain names AboutUs.org page by typing Aboutus.org/sampleaddress.com (where sampleaddress.com is your own domain name) in your web browser. If you don't have a domain name yet you can get one for just a few bucks at eXavier.com.
